The Area

Glenlee Holiday Houses can be found in the heart of Galloway – a charming, unspoilt corner of south-west Scotland – an area which has lots to discover yet can still offer the comforts and amenities crucial for a good family holiday away from it all.

The villages of Dalry and New Galloway, both two miles away, have a bank and post office, general stores, craft shops, as well as good pubs and cafes.  There is a garage in Dalry.  The local medical practice has surgeries in both villages.  There are 4 Church of Scotland churches in the Glenkens and one Episcopalian Church in New Galloway.  There is a Roman Catholic church in Castle Douglas, about 25 minutes away by car.

The Surrounding Area

Often described as ‘Scotland in miniature’ the surrounding countryside and landscape of Galloway are varied:

soft rolling hills,

  • pastoral farmland,
  • open moorland,
  • woods and forests,
  • rivers and lochs and
  • the sandy beaches of the Solway coast.
